The Answers to Your Questions About Well Repairs & Service

  • How often should my well water pump be serviced?

Regular maintenance is key to the longevity and performance of your well water pump. We recommend an annual service check-up, which includes a comprehensive inspection, pressure tests, checking electrical connections, adjusting control settings, and lubricating moving parts. This helps in early detection of potential issues and ensures consistent water supply.

  • What are some signs that my well water pump needs replacement?

Low Water Pressure: A noticeable drop in water pressure can indicate pump failure or issues with the pressure tank.

Strange Noises: Unusual sounds like grinding or banging could mean mechanical wear or internal component failure.

Frequent Cycling: If the pump turns on and off repeatedly, it might be due to a malfunctioning pressure switch or tank.

Water Quality Issues: Sand, dirt, or sediment in your water supply can signal pump or well component deterioration.

  • What are some common issues that can occur with wells?

Wells can experience a range of problems, such as:

    • Water pressure issues
    • Air in the plumbing
    • Murky/cloudy water
    • Scale buildup
    • Water quality issues
  • How often should I schedule routine well service?

Routine well service should be performed at least once a year. Regular maintenance can help you avoid costly repairs, ensure the well system operates efficiently, and guarantee a safe water supply. For older systems or in areas with poor water quality, bi-annual check-ups may be advisable.

  • How do I know if my water is contaminated?

While there are some very obvious signs that your water is contaminated which include bad odors, spotty dishes, and strange colors, your water could look, smell, and test perfectly fine but still be contaminated.

This is why you should have your well water tested and reach out if you suspect contamination of any kind.

  • Do I really need a filtration system?

Well water can contain unsafe levels of contaminants such as lead, bacteria, arsenic, etc. You do not want to be consuming well water without filtration as it is hazardous to your health.
